Echelon – Android Fitness App
Echelon needed its new Android fitness app to go live in time for the launch of its connected exercise machines, a fixed deadline. DevelopX joined as a partner to expand development support and speed up delivery. The result was an app that had real-time competition, on-demand workouts, and a connected experience across phones, tablets, and built-in machine displays.
The Challenge
Echelon offers connected home exercise equipment, including bikes, treadmills, and rowers with a digital membership service for users of all levels. The project required expanding the development team quickly to deliver the fitness app, with a fixed deadline tied to the hardware launch.
The internal team was resource constrained. They were already managing multiple software versions and a growing queue of code reviews, which made it difficult to maintain delivery speed. This resulted in a backlog of more than 70 pull requests waiting to be merged. What made the project even more demanding was the variety of software versions and device types. This included phones, tablets, and built-in displays.
Our Solution
Echelon needed to expand its development capacity. Our team worked closely with their engineers, focusing on knowledge transfer and accelerating delivery to make sure the app launched on time.
