Trainplanet
TrainPlanet is one of Sweden’s largest providers of train tickets. Founded in 2002, the company has steadily expanded its offerings, from domestic tickets to international routes and Interrail passes. To provide a better customer experience, TrainPlanet decided to redesign its services and bring them together on a single platform, making it easier to book national and international train journeys online.
The Challenge
Over time, TrainPlanet had developed multiple applications to handle different parts of its business. While functional, this fragmented setup created a complicated customer journey and limited opportunities to offer a full range of products in one place.
The company needed a unified system to support bookings across Europe. It had to manage seasonal demand and peak/off-peak travel times, while offering many ticket types from individual journeys to group and Interrail passes. The challenge was to replace legacy systems with a modern solution that was reliable, user-friendly, and flexible enough to support new services over time.
Our Solution
Together with TrainPlanet, we designed and delivered a new online booking system that replaced legacy applications with a single, integrated platform. Our role covered the full lifecycle, from design to deployment and post-launch support.
Client Background
TrainPlanet is Sweden’s leading online train-ticket agency, founded in 2002. Over time, it has expanded to cover both domestic and international rail travel. In 2015, the company launched a platform for booking routes across Sweden and Europe. A year later, it became the first service in the country to sell Interrail passes online. Today, it offers tickets to 33 countries and connects travelers to over 40,000 destinations across Europe.
As TrainPlanet grew, its services became spread across multiple systems. This created an uneven customer experience. The decision to bring together all the services into a single platform marked a shift toward more consistent service for the thousands of customers that use the service.
